HOW IPL ATHLETES TAKES WEIGHT TRAINING FOR THEIR GAME?

Modern Day IPL Athlete is a physical specimen.

No other generation of the athlete is as good as today’s athlete when you talk about the physical side of a game.

The pure physical side of a game in which strength, endurance, and speed are involved and no other league comes close to the IPL.

Modern athlete has embraced the fitness science because the modern athlete lift weights and the only way the lifting weights affect your game is by leveling up your game.

Weight training in sports is very complicated as a lot of coaches misunderstood weight training to a concept that it will stunt growth; weaken the joints which are completely not acceptable in modern fitness science.

In my opinion, it all boils down to your training plan and your diet plan and only recently Indian athletes actually started embracing fitness science.

It’s necessary for a cricketer athlete to not just net practice all day long but also lifts some weight which supports him to improve his game.

Why IPL athletes need weight training in sports?

Fast bowling and facing the fast bowlers is one of the difficult challenges cricketers face.

Firstly, you need to be strong enough in order to generate that power to throw or hit that ball.

Fast bowling is one of the things which need to work over with time you constantly need to work your way up to develop that kind of throwing speed. Surely, it takes a lot of hard work.

Primarily, it’s all about your training and diet plan which decide how well you perform on the pitch.

In the modern game, sports science has a huge role to play and that’s what we’re talking about.

As an athlete, your main aim is to generate power from your body & transfer power into a ball. It can be hitting a ball hard with your bat or in case of bowling it can be a power of your throw.

Transfer your energy to the ball in order to generate a very fast delivery.

SCIENCE OF WEIGHT TRAINING:

All muscles are made up of muscle fibers and there are 2 types of muscles fiber involved.

  1. Slow twitch fibers (for your endurance sports)

 -Swimming, Cycling, Long Distance running.

2. Fast twitch fibers (for rapid explosive movements in sports) in which minimal time is required to speed from 0 To 100.)                                     -Weightlifting, Sprint, Football, Cricket.

Running as fast as they can in short burst of time, how do you see cricketers run so fast between the wickets and after completing runs again switching in position to face next ball that’s all short energy.

So the fast twitch muscle fiber training is super effective.

Fast twitch muscle fibers help in terms of muscle size or hypertrophy there are 101 relations between them.

Someone like Virat kholi who was super skinny in his old pictures how he turned up super athletic. See how much muscle mass he acquires and now he looks bigger, broader and stronger than past.

As for amateur athlete is that training your fast twitch muscle fibers over a long period of time in a gym will have a carryover in the performance on the pitch.

The question ‘ HOW IPL ATHLETES TAKES WEIGHT TRAINING FOR THEIR GAME?’ is levied up in the following ways:

  1. BETTER COORDINATION:

BETTER COORDINATION

Coordination means of how well your body works as a unit and when you’re talking about coordination in terms of cricket it’s all about agility and power.

Agility is all about how rapidly you change your direction between the stumps & power is energy produced to hit a ball with a bat or throw a ball with max speed.

MOTOR UNITS= MUSCLE + NERVE

Motor units mean how well your motor units perform. So if you train triceps let’s say and after which you flex triceps so it’s not just the triceps which are being trained the whole nerve pathway system gets trained.

When I say about weight training for the average person it automatically associates with bodybuilding and muscle-building.

Weight training has a bunch of other benefits as well and as a sports person, the biggest thing weight training has given you it’s also giving work to your nervous system it’s not just working your muscles.

So if you flex your bicep you have trained as a few minutes back so you trained the entire nerve pathway

Basically, it improves your Mind-Muscle connection & this has a carryover to your agility, balance and overall coordination.

2. SPEED:

SPEED In THE GAME

Your speed of running has 101 correlations with the development of your fast twitch muscle fibers. So when you break down sprinting basically it’s how fast your legs can move that again is down to the development of motor units in your lower body.

If in the gym you do explosive movement you’re actually making your body and nervous system work towards a better version of itself and that’s has a carryover to your game & how fat you can run on the pitch and finally overall strength.

If you’re in school and you play at a lower age even if the other players are more talented than you, you will dominate that at some point that’s because you’re now older in a game and your muscles are grown and that’s where the strength comes into play.

Working on your fast twitch muscles fibers makes you more imposing figure in a game.

Remember that you strengthen muscle has one to one relationship with an overall lean mass on your body the more lean mass on your body the more dominating you’re and more importantly more damage you take so

MORE MUSCLE= LESS INJURY

So, strength has a relation with less injury.

3. MORE POWER:

power Generation

Athlete means how explosive you’re overall how much momentum you’ve and how fast you can go from 0 to 100 (in human limits).

Also, it positively affects things like your short strength or your vertical that’s how high you can jump.

Weight training gives you more power both mentally and physically. Physically being active and healthy helps you think better helps you make better decisions.

While you’re in a game of fitness and training which gives you the power to take no time decisions. This is a known fact.

That’s the reason why the cricketers exercise just before they go to the game just because it releases positive endorphins in a body which make them think better it helps to feel better about oneself.

As a point of coach, it takes another level of understanding that what an athlete is needed to improve his fitness and skills for the required game.

In addition to that yes there is high skills required to play this sport, a cricketer needs good core strength and balance, speed to run between the wickets and in the field but as of now I am undertaking the amateur athlete so all you need to know is just start weight training start stretching your muscle fibers and make them strong.

A good fitness coach always suggests players do endurance, sprint fitness, flexibility and other cricket specific training.

Doing very high rep & lifting very light weights so for hitting slow twitch fibers.

Remember as an amateur your aim is to engage your fast twitch `muscle fibers (below 12reps) there is not just this much to know but there is a lot of science involved that you need to master and for which my Blog mensquats.com is good to go.

But as an amateur athlete before entering the game you need to learn the basic concept of training methodology to level up your game on the field.
